Broj upisanih studenata na univerzitete u Bosni i Hercegovini je u stalnom padu, tako da je u periodu od 2017/2018 do 2021/2022 broj upisanih studenata u BIH smanjen za 12%. Smanjen broj upisanih studenata je u skladu sa stalnim trendom iseljavanja stanovništva iz zemalja Zapadnog Balkan. Međutim, smanjenom broju studenata u posljednjih pet godina značajno su doprinijele i niske ocjene rangiranja, odnosno nekonkurentna ponuda univerziteta. Danas postoji više sistema rangiranja univerziteta, a u ovom radu su korišteni rezultati SJR Scimago i Webometrics baze podataka kako bi se procijenio utjecaj publikovanih naučnih radova i najboljih univerziteta u Bosni i Hercegovini u periodu 2018 – 2022. godine.
